What happens in The Sanctuary

Online Practice

Enter the HeartSong Yoga Sanctuary virtual studio.
Pure convenience for your practice - in your home, in your own time. Recordings included.

 

Community

Feel connected, seen, and heard via Connection Circles, discussion threads, group conversation, and occasional informal community gatherings.

Classes

A minimum of 8 hours of live classes each month. Weekly sessions include yoga asana (movement), meditations and community connection circles.

 

Writing and Poetry

Weekly Sanctuary only writings from Leslie with thematic inspiration, journaling prompts, practice suggestions. Poetry and images for added inspiration as well.

Immersions

Quarterly 5 - day Immersions
with dedicated theme.
Integration time and more spaciousness the remaining weeks - once every third month.

 

Go at your pace

Instructions in class always offer a variety of alternatives to support you at your level.
Attend live or by recording.
Ample resources provided, do as much or as little as you like.

Spring Equinox and Winter Solstice Online Retreats offered each year. A deep dive into the Art of Sacred Self-Care. Luscious, relaxing, and fun.

Learn the Art of Sacred Self-Care


As we practice together, a confident and deep self-knowing arises. You change from the inside out. No longer willing to hold yourself back, the tired, apologetic layers begin to fall away giving space to the truest and free being in you. With love in your heart, you now express yourself as the authentic you.

This program is not for you when:

  • You aren’t seeking new tools to support your physical, mental, and/or emotional balance. Everything is going just fine for you.

  • You are satisfied with how you cope with the challenges in your life. There’s nothing new you want to explore or experience.

  • You know what you’re here for and you have no difficulties fulfilling that purpose every day.

  • You like how you’re engaging with your spiritual practice. You have the support you need or you prefer to do it on your own.

Or, you just don’t have the time, energy, or motivation to commit to yourself. Change is just too hard.

I’m so happy you’re here and considering joining me and the community inside The Sanctuary!

I know first hand how hard it can be to establish an abiding yoga practice and how alone you can feel as you work hard to bring your spiritual beliefs into your life and let them help you make the changes you desire.

Let me support you!

I have over 30 years experience of study and practice - and a way of teaching - that I know will help you in seeing yourself in new ways and open up new possibilities for you.

No longer will your yoga be about getting on your mat to do poses (although that sure feels good!) it’ll be about how you relate to, and care for, yourself. It’ll be about how you feel when you walk out into the world as your best self. And it’ll be something that you never say you’ll go do later…

You’ll be “doing” yoga all the time. I’ll show you how.

Frequently Asked Questions about The Sanctuary 

  • I teach yoga as a mind, body, spirit practice that is inclusive of yoga posture practice, breathing exercises, meditation, and many other techniques for supporting mindfulness and awareness.

    For exploration of the postures, I teach an alignment based hatha yoga (the physical practice of yoga) that is deeply connected to the spiritual. More than simply working on poses, I teach you to be more embodied. To feel and sense what is going on inside of you.

    I teach a variety of meditation practices to give you tools for calming your nervous system, cultivating peacefulness, and awakening to a more aligned and enlivened you in the world.

  • There are two options for members to choose from:
    Gentle Foundations - recommended for students who want a slower pace or who are early in their yoga practice.

    Experienced/Intermediate - for those who are familiar with yoga, have no injuries, and are ready to explore more challenging postures.

  • The class schedule is determined each quarter with the intention of allowing members from different time zones to all have the opportunity to attend some sessions live. The schedule varies slightly each week for this accommodation. Members are provided with the schedule at the beginning of the quarter to allow you to get the sessions on your calendar. All sessions are recorded so you can also participate at your convenience.

  • All sessions are recorded and many members choose to set their own schedule using the recordings.
    While the meditation sessions do include some group interaction, during the Connection Circle, I always give options and suggestions for those who are watching the recording so you can benefit from the exercises and experience.
    There is no direct interaction during the yoga asana classes so recordings are pretty much the same as participating live.

  • Yes. I love working with people who are new to yoga and are serious about exploring what a well rounded yoga practice could look like.

    Sanctuary members have an option for thier yoga asana (posture/movement) class to attend my Gentle Foundations class which I would recommend most beginners start with.

  • I am a trained and experienced yoga therapist and teach yoga from the foundation of this knowledge.
    I teach you how to align your body and to sense and feel your limits to help to mitigate the risks of injury.
    However, in Sanctuary classes I can not give you specific and individualized instruction which you may need when you have an injury.
    Please feel welcome to schedule a Discovery Session and we can talk more fully about what is going on with you. I can let you know during our discussion if I believe your needs can be addressed within the classes.
    I do also offer private sessions including yoga therapy. We can talk about whether this might better support you. Private sessions can also be added to your Sanctuary program at a substantial discount.
