Why "Practical Mystic"? 🪨✨
I've been writing these HeartBeats messages since way back when HeartSong Yoga and Wellness Center was in brick and mortar form.
A lot has changed since then which, if you've been around awhile, you've witnessed...
But many who receive this weekly love letter have only known me in the virtual realm.
Plus we have quite a few new people here, since the Rest Revolution Summit, so I thought it might be fun to do a little introduction and share a few things you may not know about me (even if we've met IRL!)
Hi! I'm Leslie, Yoga Therapist, Soul Embodiment Coach,
and Practical Mystic...
A title I received a few years back in a conversation with a friend. (Perhaps a story for another time! But you may have some ideas about that too after reading this...)
Some people may think I'm a little "woo" - I love teaching about Goddesses, chakras, energy, and love...I meditate and pull oracle cards, study astrology and follow moon cycles.
I'm a story teller and love poetry and mythology.
But I'm super grounded and down to earth too.
I spend a lot of time in nature, I preach embodiment, love being human, and encourage you to embrace yourself exactly as you are.
I grew up in rural Oregon, riding horseback and roaming the hills. I love all animals, I feel most at home outside amongst the trees, and I spend most of my time barefoot, unless I'm in hiking shoes which are my most worn foot attire.
These days I live in a small city in Central Oregon, at the base of the Cascade Mountains - always close to nature.
In all my teaching I share a lot about how important it is for us to be authentic - to feel comfortable being ourselves. And to live our personal truth finding meaning and purpose in our lives.
For me that has come through my spiritual practice - which includes yoga, meditation, lots of embodiment, and all that time in nature.
It also comes from my Teachers of Joy, my sweet doggies, Luna and Phoebe!
They help remind me not to take myself too seriously and to have
FUN!
Having that mystical, or what I think of as spiritual, nature has shown me how to be fully present in my life, as it is. And to release the perfectionism and people pleasing that kept me from feeling like I could truly be my authentic self.
If we ever do meet in person, you'll probably hear me singing. I always have a song in my head and they often flow out of my mouth without me even realizing it...sometimes, I can even carry a tune - but I sing regardless because it's just plain good for my soul!
I'd love to learn a fun fact about you too. Comment and tell me a little about who you are!
With Love,
